The harder you try to “be a parent,” …
… your kids push you away, ignore advice, roll their eyes, and slam their doors.
Running around like a head with its chicken cut off and still not getting anything done.
You feel overwhelmed, defeated, or not good enough – trying to hold it all together.
Work, kids, relationships, bills, extracurricular activities… all you want is a minute to yourself without feeling guilty for resting.
The struggle is real.
Parental burnout is real.
You’re exhausted, irritable, and seem to fly off the handle at the littlest thing. Your brain feels like sludge, and boarding school in Borneo looks really good right now.
Working parents experience some of the highest rates of anxiety-related disorders and have some of the lowest rates of relationship satisfaction. Burnout increases the risk of concentration problems, chronic fatigue, and other physical illnesses.
Want some good news? Help is available.
Here’s what help looks like…
There is no manual for being a parent. No one tells you how to care for yourself while raising a family.
Feelings of isolation and assumptions that you’re the only one experiencing the struggles make it worse. Support for parents looks very different from individual, couples, or family therapy.
I offer parents the opportunity to be part of groups that meet their specific needs. Groups are small – limited to 5 participants – ensuring everyone gets the support they need. Group sessions cover specific topics and require a 12-week commitment.
Some parents benefit from education groups that provide skills like discipline, task completion, and building social skills in their children. Other parents enjoy more informal process groups where parents share their struggles and receive encouragement and strategies from other parents. Other parents prefer one-on-one skill-building sessions with our highly trained therapists.
Questions? Don’t worry. I’ll help you determine what will work best for you and your child during the intake process.
